When I got up this morning, what a pleasant surprise to see that the sun was shining. I made coffee and posted my coloring page with music, read and responded to comments, then went to the Stream of Consciousness prompt to read today’s entries. Since I slacked off last night and didn’t do the day’s dishes and decided to drink hot rooibos with Brendan’s cream liqueur instead of cream and watch a very interesting movie, “Sicario”, with James Brolin and Benicio Torres instead, I had to do the dishes. Guess what? After I was done with the dishes, the sun was still shining! This meant I felt it was worth it to take a drive to a lovely park on Lake MI and see how far out the water was frozen.
I was happily surprised to see the parking lot was plowed out. This park is in an out of the way place, set out in rural land mixed with some woodland, but it is a county park, which means they take care of it year-round. I didn’t wear boots, but there was a path through the snow and a lot has already melted so I was able to get out to the dune overlooking the water.
You will see I took a 360 degree video so you have an idea of what kind of paradise I live in, regardless of the season. In the video, you will see that I stopped in one place where the sun was reflecting off of the water like a zillion laser beams. When I watched the video, I realize you can only see a small strip of the water, which is just above those tiny “hills” along the horizon. The hills are frozen water, snow, and sand that raises as it gets pushed around. Behind the lake/water is a bank of clouds. Hopefully you could make out the dunes as I turned around.
On my drive home were dreams of warmer weather and orchards full of apples.
