Only six hours after Monte had picked George up from the inpatient substance abuse treatment facility, he was scouring the macadam streets of the small village for him. They’d gone back to the hotel on the rented scooter for a nap, planning on dinner at five. When Monte woke up, George and the scooter were gone.
He spotted the scooter parked behind shrubbery, sporting a black cat. The cat meowed loudly, jumped down, then looked at him as if to say follow me. Monte did. Monte convinced George to get on the scooter with him. Back to rehab they headed.
