saturday mix with sarah

Sarah is the host of Saturday Mix Sound Bite.  Sarah says:

Welcome to the Saturday Mix – Sound Bite, 13 April 2019!
This week we are hearing things, as we explore the use of ONOMATOPOEIA. You will need to use the THREE onomatopoeic words in your response – which can be poetry or prose.
Our three words, using onomatopoeia are:
  • zap
  • tweet
  • achoo

Instead of combining them into one piece, I’ll write one for each.

July’s thunderstorm
zzzzzzzzaps the darkness with white cracks –
glimpsing heaven’s light.
*
Chief orangutan’s
tweets echo in hell’s caverns–
my ears are covered.
*
Ah… ah… ah… aah choo!
April rain sizzles sidewalks
I click-click-click along.

  1. I can’t remember ever having heard an orangutan, but I didn’t know their sound could be considered a tweet

It’s a metaphor for a certain someone who likes to send out a lot of tweets.

Okay, I’ve never claimed to be bright and I never claimed to be smart either, but you totally have me in left field here, so I’m just going to say “HI, and I hope you have nice weekend”!!! hmmmmmmmmmm

I don’t think any person in political office of any kind should be allowed to ‘tweet’ at all, period.

You know when I first started reading your comment I thought you were going to say you didn’t they they should be the subject of any poetry.

Even the earliest of nursery rhymes were political… Jack and Jill…

Actually there is some thought about not every thing the government especially military wise needs to be public 24/7 because then the people one is trying to protect be on home turf or else where can be put in to jeopardy if the wrong people know of said plans… Just saying the freedom of speech and the press might use some better judgement when ‘blabbing’ what only might be facts or even true facts.

And I don’t buy for one minute that audits should come before tax disclosures that should have occurred before elections… of any political official. And if any government wants to instate health programs that the government should also be force to use said programs. And government officials shouldn’t be able to have more than one political pension… like some who get a two or five year term jobs, three or four times in a life time and collect on for life on all of those jobs.

As a whole, the government we have is a poisoned well that we continue to keep drinking from.

It is a sad story that we can only hope someone finds a cure for sooner than later.

I enjoyed reading all three, especially Chief Orangutan one which intrigues me … I can glimpse all sorts of possibilities in that story.

I would love to try to write song lyrics. When I see that Sir Mix-a-Lot got $100 million from Baby Got Back, it makes me want to write some songs :) Have you read that book Hans talked about “songbook”? I’m reading it now and he talks about the songs with lasting power and he said they’re always about love.

No I’ve never read that…it makes sense because love either makes us happy or drives us insane…well usually both so yea they would last through time.
Really the only bands that I can think of that don’t have a lot of love songs are CCR and The Band

I found a web page that has tips for pulling a song together. I’m afraid they are good and I post them someone will take them and make money. I wouldn’t even know how to begin to peddle the songs to people. I guess more research is needed.

Yes don’t do that… I’m meeting a songwriter next week cause he wanted some help on melodies. I want to learn myself how to push them… good night!
