Linda G Hill is the host of Stream of Consciousness Saturday. Linda says:
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “lip.” Use it as a word, or find a word with “lip”in it. As always, use any way you’d like. Enjoy!

The immediate thing, or should I say person, who comes to mind is Lip, short for Phillip Gallagher, eldest son of Clan Gallagher, from one of the most profoundly funny and twisted series ever made, “Shameless.” Lip is as close to a father figure any of the rest of the younger kids in the family get, where his sister, Fiona, who is the eldest child, plays the mother. Lip is sharp, inquisitive, and has learned to put those positive attributes to use in finding ever more creative methods to pull in dollars for his family’s survival. He’s in high school when the series begins. He also takes after his father in drinking too much. Although I adore every single Gallagher kid, Lip is probably my favorite because it is always so clear what unlimited potential he has to succeed; yet also so clear what barriers he needs to overcome to get anywhere.
For anyone who hasn’t seen, “Shameless”, it’s delicious, wicked, and hilarious but not everyone’s cup of tea due to mature themes and some outrageous actions on the parts of just about every character on the show. If you do watch it, start from the beginning or you won’t know what’s going on. It is set in Chicago, but I did learn that the exterior shots only are from Chicago and the rest is filmed in California.
Happy Saturday!

Absolutely agree it’s a great show but I have only seen the UK version, brilliant hard hitting and often very difficult to watch .

It’s a great show about highly dysfunctional people. I think it’s returning for another season, but I think Fiona is off the show.

Great if it comes back. I have S8 to see yet. Do you mean there will be a S9? The people are highly dysfunctional but it makes for stellar comedy!

Dango just said he thought they were, minus Fiona.

I’ll take your word for it. Doesn’t sound like my kind of show.

It’s chaos, and anyone who has lived in an alcoholic home knows chaos. Maybe that’s why I like it, it’s a safe way to revisit horrific times and be able to laugh at it. Cathartic, I guess you’d call it.

Thanks for the tip — sounds like something I might find interesting so I’ll give it a go. Chaos is kind of our thing. ;)
