Today’s post is in remembrance of Prince.  When my brother was in the service and came home on leave he asked me if I had heard of Prince.  I said no.  He said you’ve got to hear this guy’s music.  Purple Rain was the first album I bought, probably after going to see the movie.  I thought Prince looked a little femmy, but my best friend at the time went ga-ga over him.  When I brought this up to her a year or so ago, she denied it.  Whatever.  Anyway, I liked the music but didn’t listen to the album that much.  When Grafitti Bridge came out I bought it.  It was serial-played for quite some time.  This CD is great for two things:  getting into a serious dance trance and doing housework.  I’d play Grafitti Bridge and stay in shape and keep the house looking good.  I was blessed to see Prince, live in Grand Rapids, MI and had really good seats.  I’ve never been to a more professionally organized and stupendous concert before — or since.  As I got older I understood what a consummate performer Prince was, not just a fabulous musician.

I chose to color a heart today and to color it purple because Prince would have wanted it that way.  I miss you and know you’re playing in heaven as I’m typing this.

Graffiti Bridge is the twelfth studio album by American recording artist Prince and is the soundtrack album to the 1990 film of the same name. It was released on August 21, 1990 by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records. The album was much better received in sales than the film. It reached number 6 in the United States and was his third consecutive chart-topper (following Lovesexy and Batman) on the UK Albums Chart. Nearly every song on the record was written by Prince despite the handful of artists performing, including Tevin Campbell, Mavis Staples and The Time.

So what is the answer to the question of you
What do I look for, what shall I do?
Which way do I turn when I’m feeling lost?
If I sell my soul, now what will it cost?
Must I become naked? No image at all?
Shall I remain upright? Or get down and crawl?

All of the questions in my life will be answered
When I decide which road to choose
What is the answer to the question of you?

You

Songwriters: Prince Rogers Nelson

Are you talking about when he was a symbol? You gotta admit it was a cool symbol. He was Prince, then The-Artist-Formerly-Known-As-Prince, then the Symbol, then back to Prince (I think that’s how it went.). I chose one of his simpler songs, but you’re right, he made great music.

  3. I was referring to what you said that, “I thought Prince looked a little femmy” when I said that I never knew exactly what Prince was.

You got to see Prince! Awesome. I liked this late 70’s to early 90’s period- after that no so much but in the 80s he was one of the best! Little Red Corvette one of the best songs of the decade- if not THE best… like the coloring job too- as always!

Yes, could never afford a concert like that nowadays. Thanks, I wanted to make it look like his heart was shining gold.

I never got to see him live. I liked a lot of his stuff. He was a really talented all-around musician. The album I related to the most was Around the World in a Day….he had some classic albums.
    Still can’t believe he passed..

I chose the heart for Prince, as it was the only symbol that made sense for him. Glad you like the Purple Prince <3
