Bonus Video.  While out and about today, I came across flowering trees.

George Fest – subtitled A Night to Celebrate the Music of George Harrison – is a live album and concert DVD package documenting the George Fest tribute concert to former Beatle George Harrison, held at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on 28 September 2014. The album and documentary were released on 26 February 2016.

The 2014 concert coincided with the reissue of Harrison’s Apple Records solo albums. Among the many performers were Brian Wilson and Al Jardine of the Beach Boys, Dhani Harrison, Norah Jones, Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips, Conan O’Brien, Spoon’s Britt Daniel, and Brandon Flowers of the Killers. Other performers included Ben Harper, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Ann Wilson of Heart, and Ian Astbury.

I found this 3 disc set while browsing the L’s George Harrison [i.e. harrison, george] listings. The first 2 discs are music and the 3rd is a video, which I haven’t gotten to yet. I’m about to start coloring, but looking through the songlist, my eyes gravitated towards Dhani Harrison playing Savoy Truffle. Listening to the song, tingles started at my head and traveled through my body. Dhani sounds so much like his father, it is like having his dad back. God has been kind in this regard.

Creme tangerine and montelimar
A ginger sling with a pineapple heart
A coffee dessert, yes you know it’s good news
But you’ll have to have them all pulled out
After the Savoy truffle

Cool cherry cream, a nice apple tart
I feel your taste all the time we’re apart
Coconut fudge, really blows down those blues
But you’ll have to have them all pulled out
After the Savoy truffle

You might not feel it now
But when the pain cuts through
You’re going to know, and how
The sweat is going to fill your head
When it becomes too much
You shout aloud

You’ll have to have them all pulled out
After the Savoy truffle

You know that what you eat you are,
But what is sweet now, turns so sour
We all know Obla-Di-Bla-Da
But can you show me, where you are?

Yes you’ll have to have them all pulled out

Thank you, I appreciate learning that. What does the rest of it mean? It sounds like a bunch of desserts, and truffle is some kind of mushroom/fungi, I believe.

  2. It does sound like desert and maybe a trip to the dentist to get your teeth pulled out, but it inspired me to write a song parody called The New Shuffle.

Like that song a lot. Dhani does an excellent job…I would not know that wasn’t George.

Me too. I watched half of the concert last night (didn’t get to bed til 4!) Have you seen Georgefest? I love what Dhani (who co-produced) did with it. Aside from the well-known singers, he chose UNKNOWN backup players. There was a clip of him saying something to the effect that he didn’t want there to be the big ego players competing with each other as to who was the baddest badass player (my word’s not Dhani’s) but instead to focus on the songs. He said he chose ones his dad didn’t cover a lot (I think that’s what he said.) I love the short blurbs the singers gave, where they are surprised at what seems like a simple song being as challenging to get the nuances of to perform. So many of the singers are young and getting their first closeup of George’s music. I want to check out some of these young performers, they are so talented.

I’ve only seen this song from it. I’ve seen Concert for George but not this. Does Netflix have it?

:) The Wilson (dark-haired one) sister knocks “Beware of Darkness” out of the park.
