Welcome to the Saturday Mix – Lucky Dip, 18 May 2019! For this week’s Lucky Dip, I have reached into my mystery bag and pulled out a Musette. The topic is up to you! Luckily, Shadow Poetry has an explanation…Good luck with your ‘Lucky Dip Musette’ – I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Return of the Peonies
Heaven
Keeps peony
Such scent!
Earth’s own
Sweet deity
Comes home!
Each spring
Her fealty
Does sing!
The peonies are beautiful, as is the poem. 🙂

Thanks, M 🙂 My peonies aren’t blooming yet, but these are some beautiful ones from somewhere

I could never get peonies to bloom, anywhere. Then again I have a brown thumb. They’d grow like weeds at my grandmother’s house.

The two vital things to know about peonies are that they have to have full sun and they don’t like to be moved. Your grandma has a green thumb?

yup, Baba had a green thumb. I didn’t get that gene, nor did her daughter (my mom).

I had peonies at my very first house. I thought they needed ants to open up. They really don’t, but the ants and flower might just help each other. Nature works in wondrous ways 🙂

Peonies and ants seem to go hand in hand, or is that petal and leg? When I cut them to bring into the house, I always shake them and douse them with the hose to get the ants out.

I brought a few ants in when I brought in some hyacinths early spring.
