It isn’t as difficult to get out of bed this morning.
Most of the day is spent talking with friends and attending awards ceremonies.
Joey and a group of us ride down to the beach at lunch time. The water is still ice cold but the air is warm. We make it back in time for the afternoon necessities: turning in books, saying our goodbyes, one by one. Listening to lots of adult-type advice.
We are approaching the end. The clock moves incrementally slow. Finally! 2:42 arrives. We bee-line it to the door, laughing and jostling. School’s out for summer!
The End.

Oh, that feeling of freedom….
Still remember how the air smelled early in the morning and late in the day at dusk after the sprinklers had been briefly misting people’s lawns…..
