It was Gin’s turn to make dinner for the club. The entree was almost done as they chatted in the kitchen. It was more than chatter. The other six had planned the intervention for Gin, who drank too much, for weeks. She listened and smiled, thinking of the rum cake dessert.

I hope the family is able to convince Gin that she has a problem, but it is sort of their fault for naming her Gin in the first place.

lol This isn’t her family, these are her friends.

Nothing like rum cake to ease the intervention! I remember attending an AA picnic and one of the ladies made a rum cake! It was the favorite dessert of the night! I remember thinking, what an odd thing to bring to an AA picnic. (I was al-anon, my ex was the recovering member).

This tickles me. Truth is always stranger than fiction. The epitomy of denial.

Absolutely! The baker of the cake assured everyone that the alcohol had burned off during the baking, but I can tell you, it was oozing rum!!! Haha

Another rationalization on their part…

I don’t think Gin thinks she has a problem…
I’ve never been to one before.

I haven’t been to one either. When I saw the picture, it looked like she was the center of attention and then I saw all of the alcohol on the table.

yep! That is one thing I’ve never craved…I am very lucky

You don’t drink alcohol? Or you don’t crave alcohol?

I’m not a drinker at all. I mean yea I would drink…uh…what we used to call fufu drinks like Pina Colada and drinks that taste good…but real drinking? Not really. Don’t get me wrong…It doesn’t bother me…I just never go into it.

That’s awesome. My dad was never a drinker, but mom and stepdad both alkies. Neither of my kids drinks alcohol. Older son has tried it a few times and younger was never interested in it.

I have tried it. When we were playing bars…like from 8 at night til 3 in the morning on summer nights…we would all be sweating and I would drink beer like water because beer was free to us…I would sweat it all out…that is the most drinking I ever done.

That sounds like heavy drinking to me!

Yea but I couldn’t feel a thing because it was gone…It would be over 80 in the bar. That was my foray into drinking…it didn’t suit me….cokes cost us but beer was free and we all were poor

Well you could have drank….. water, unless the water was polluted or something. I’m glad it didn’t suit you.

I was just amazed I never got drunk. That is how hot it was…after that I never wanted the stuff. I’ve probably drank a six pack since my 20s….that is it.

I logging off and going to watch a movie. I have an 8:30 dental appt in the morning, and I hope this tooth is taken care of. I’ve been babying it for a week now and this is for the birds! Glad you are OK now Max. Have a wonderful evening and good luck back at work tomorrow (if you feel well enough to go.)
