#MM — Photo Challenge — Ship of Fools and dVerse — On Climate Crisis

Ship of Fools

God’s ten thousand things
Elements that swirl
Oasis in space
This dear ship of fools
Rusty and leaking
Decades of misuse
Hellbent destruction
As we build our tombs

Rabid lemmings run*
Deny there’s an edge
Idiocy’s race
Bullets in the gun
Pointed at Earth’s head
Afterlife to come
Back to molecules
Cosmic carbon plumes

I’d like to thank Paul at Paul’s Poetry Playground  for highlighting the Octameter form recently, because I liked the look of it so much I had to try one.

*I’d also like to thank Glenn Buttkus at Feel Free to Read for a comment he made on my dVerse poem today.  Glenn, I hope you don’t mind me using what you said in your comment in this poem.  If you do, please let me know!

Nekneeraj is the host of Mindlovemisery Menagerie’s Photo Challenge. Nekneeraj says:
Use above image as inspiration for a poem or short story.  Thank you, Nekneeraj, for the wonderful photo as a writing prompt.

I also want to link this second poem on the Climate Crisis prompt from Anmol (alias HA) to dVerse.

  1. Thank you so much, Anmol. I do feel this may be the case, as unfortunate as it is. Why should all other life on the planet perish because of what we do. Humans are the common denominator of danger to Mother Earth.
