Our local library is always coming up with creative ways to engage its patrons of all ages. They outdid themselves with the Book Camp. Book Camp is just what it sounds like: a camp for adults that revolves around books and reading. Set at the newly developed glamping site on the edge of Big Lake, four hours of sustained reading per day, broken into one-hour chunks, alternated with one-hour action-based activities revolving around books, authors, plots, etc. In the evenings, everyone sits around the campfire and listens to storytellers.
Book Camp was so successful and got so much national media coverage that libraries across the country are adopting it as part of their programming schedule for adults. Our creative librarians are adding Book Writers Camp to the schedule for next year.
Fandango’s FOWC is camp and the Word of the Day Challenge is book.
It is a great idea and I was honored to be asked to speak at the next meeting.

It IS a great idea. Sounds like a dream camp to me. What would you say if you were the speaker? (you can do a post on it if you want to with prompts, just sayin….)

They want me to read my second book, well at least in my dreams.
