OctPoWriMo2019 Day 5 and MM Saturday Mix – Aperture

I wander halls with many doors
Of varied woods and endless cores
The choice I make will not be forced
On cosmic course.  On cosmic course

I skip through one of oak that shines
Am in a place of flowered vines
Each bloom displays precise guidelines
There will be fines! There will be fines!

I walk back out into the hall
Do eyes deceive? Did it shrink small?
What’s that? A big red bouncing ball.
I run and fall. I run and fall

Into a hole. White light portal.
Am I to die? Remain mortal?
I land abrupt. Hear a chortle
See a turtle. See a turtle

With beard of moss and eyes of brown
“I’ve come to show you all around.
You’re wondering – you’re still earthbound
In dreamland now.” In dreamland now

We sprouted wings, took to the sky
Skimmed feet and crowns through Horus’ Eye
I saw then we were butterflies
Absorbed the why. Absorbed the why.

Notes: The Eye of Horus, also known as wadjet, wedjat or udjat, is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power, and good health.

The butterfly is a pivotal symbol in philosophical Daoism/Taoism. The big story is about Chuang Tzu/Zhuangzi and The Butterfly Dream.

Sarah is the host of Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie’s Saturday Mix.  Sarah says:
For this week’s Lucky Dip, I have reached into my mystery bag and pulled out a Monotetra. The topic is up to you!

Morgan Dragonwillow (and today’s co-host, MK Vecchitto) is the host of OctPoWriMo.
MK says:
What does the concept of doorways mean to you? Do you believe when one doorway closes, a new one opens? What images come to mind? How does this make you feel?

  1. I like how you put all the concepts together. First I was thinking of Alice in Wonderland… but it has so much more symbolism. That stone door, like the ancient Stone Hedge, and ultimately, perhaps the fine we must pay for our dreaming.
Yet there is a gentleness, that good fortune of being a butterfly to pass through or by Horus’s Eye.
