Cold days hug cold nights
Fire drains from earth and sky
Inhaled by autumn leaves

Rosy-cheeked maples whisper
Secrets to tall browning oak

Frank is the host of Haikai Challenge.  Frank says:
Write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to foliage (red leaves (momiji)).

Tanka form.
