Veil of Justice

He, before the court;
I, watching in back row;
Armed assemblage all.
He looked small against
Polished oak bench
Gavel echoes, justice
commence, proclaimed
by ordained tin god.
Away he shuffled
without a sentence.
I said I wanted justice
But my quivering lip lied.

De (aka Whimsygizmo) is today’s host of dVerse.  De says:
This week, I’d like you to quench our thirst for poems by playing with the word quiver.
