#Haikai Challenge #117: Midwinter (mafuyu)

Image result for black sky snow

Dark’s pendulum swings
heavy, to its furthest reach –
dawn a memory

Midwinter night, Luna’s lost
Clouds sputter confused snow

Frank J. Tassone is the host of Haikai Challenge.  Frank says:
This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senyru, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga) that alludes to either midwinter (mafayu), midsummer (manastu), or the winter/summer solstice.

Gina thank you very much. It does feel that way this time of year. I hope you will write haiki for Frank’s prompt (pretty please?)

it was spooky reading your poem this morning as I wrote a few verses in my notebook last night and the word pendulum was in the first line! yikes! No promises!

Thanks, Dwight. It was so dark, the flakes didn’t know which way to go ;)

I love the image of dark as a pendulum. The turning can’t come soon enough for me. I hate that it’s dark at 4pm. (K)

I hear you. I’ve been staying up really late and getting up around noon, so I’m not getting enough sunlight :(

I make myself get up early, otherwise it seems like the day is gone before it gets started.

Ah, confused snow… or just plain confused weather. We headed south for a few days… and brought wind and rain with us. Looking forward to some sun. The wind is still making the palms sway, maybe in confusion ;)
