#SLS — The Crazy Ones by Stellar Revival

Jim Adams is the steadfast host of Song Lyric Sunday.  Jim says:
I am sure that it will be easy to find a song for Crazy being used as this week’s prompt.

Here are the “rules”:
• Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not. If it does not fit, then please explain why you chose this song.
• Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.
• Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
• Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
• Ping back to this post or place your link in the comments section below.
• Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
• Feel free to suggest future prompts.
• Have fun and enjoy the music.

Stellar Revival

Surprisingly it took a little digging to find out information on the group I chose today, which is Stellar Revival. I finally found some at The Boca Raton Tribune of all places. They wrote about them in their March 2, 2017 issue.

The band began in 2008 and three years later they signed a record deal with Capitol Records. Cerbone left the comfort of his restaurant [Pizza Time in Boca Raton] and traveled with the rest of the band to Canada to record their debut album.

Some unfortunate circumstances started to arise and the release of the album, “Love, Lust, and Bad Company,” was pushed back and ultimately shelved after Universal Music Group completed the purchase of Capitol Records at the end of 2012.

The band did find some success with their first single “The Crazy Ones” however, which was used as the official theme song for the WWE Elimination Chamber in 2013. It was also featured in a television spot for “The Expendables 2.”

Dan Uricoli, who is no longer with the band, decided to release the album on his own in 2015, but it has not gotten much attention so far. Cerbone is looking toward re-releasing it or doing a double album release in the future.

During their brief time apart, which they like to call an “extended vacation,” the band, which now consists of Cerbone, Koussevitzky, Steve Morgan, Ryan Spears and Mike Lowther, returned to their previous lives. For Cerbone, that meant returning to being a chef and restaurateur at Pizza Time in Boca Raton.

We’ve always been homelife kind of guys,” Cerbone said. “Home is where the heart is. It was normal for me. It wasn’t that we faced a failure or anything like that. We were all career guys before we had music. It was nice to have a bit of normalcy again and to kind of focus on ourselves as people.

We are the black sheep,
Dirty freak,
Red-headed step child

We are the born bad nomad,
Turn it up and get wild,
We are the stones that keep rolling
We are the sweetest sin you welcome in,
Then leave before the morning

‘Cause we are the crazy ones
The mavericks, the dreamers
The forgotten sons
We color outside the lines for fun
We are the crazy ones
We are crazy ones
The badass, outcast
Son of a guns
We march to the beat of a different drum
We are the crazy ones
We are the crazy ones

We are the new school,
No rules,
Needle in the haystack
We are the outsiders,
All nighters
Scream if you’re a badass
We are the wheels that keep turning

We are the heartbreakers, risk takers
Anything but boring
‘Cause we are the crazy ones
The mavericks, the dreamers
The forgotten sons
We color outside the lines for fun
We are the crazy ones
The badass, outcast
Son of a guns
We march to the beat of a different drum
We are the crazy ones
We are the crazy ones

We’re one-of-a-kind believe it,
So stand up and make ’em see it

We are the heartbreakers, risk takers
Anything but boring
‘Cause we are the crazy ones
The mavericks, the dreamers
The forgotten sons
We color outside the lines for fun
We are the crazy ones
The badass, outcast
Son of a guns
We march to the beat of a different drum
We are the crazy ones
We are the crazy ones
Songwriters: Brian Howes / Daniel Uricoli / Gennaro Cerbone

  1. Wow – just Wow! That is my kind of music right there. I’d never heard it before – love it!
I’m re-reading ‘the Maze Runner’ series, and this would be a great theme song for a movie of the book. I know they’ve already made movie, which I did see, but they should have used this song. 🙂
