After being cast adrift on the Great Sea for months, carried where the Western Trade Winds traveled, Mitsuki’s sailboat beached within a mile of her destination. She stepped gingerly ashore, then pulled the craft up and anchored it to a broken beam half-buried in sand.
Sunlight was shifting to moonlight as Mitsuki stepped into the circle. Tonight was the last night the magic was viable this year. She silently thanked The Goddess for getting her here in time.
Mitsuki held out her palm and flames burst from it. Sparks rose high and could still be seen in the sky as they traveled out of our atmosphere. These sparks would join once they left the planet’s atmosphere, forming a protective net around Mother Earth.
The reign of interstellar terror that was plaguing the galaxy would be kept at bay for another year.
The End.
