I borrowed “The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy” by Valerie Ann Worwood from the library within the last week and have been consulting and taking notes from it since then.
Today the copy I bought arrived in the mail. I noticed immediately that there was a substantial difference in size between the two volumes, which got my curiosity going. Why was my copy so much bigger than the library borrow copy? I proceeded to check things between them to see what was different besides size.
Both were printed in Canada.
Both were printed by New World Library, Novato, CA (Canada? California?)
Both were 2016 and state “first printing of revised edition”
Finally something was different:
The library copy had the numbers 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
My purchased copy had the numbers 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 (missing 1)
Other than the size and the missing “1” they were the same.

I started examining the pages and noticed two big differences. My copy had thicker pages, and my copy had darker ink.
If I hadn’t borrowed the book, then purchased what I thought was going to be an identical copy, I never would have known.
What does this mean?
Are libraries aware they are buying inferior copies?
Do book printers skimp on books libraries buy because they think they can get away with it?
Lots of questions remain unanswered for now.
Anyone with any information on this, please enlighten me.

…but regarding the oil…I found an old bottle…it was peppermint I used.

for your headache? We used the oil for stomach ache when I was growing up. Now I use peppermint tea for upset stomach. It’s amazing how many uses each herb/oil has and how many different chemicals in each.

For a headache yes but..I started to use it just because it felt so good. I never tried it for a stomach ache.
Stomach ache… we had a sulphur well beside us growing up… as bad as it smells… it worked wonders for stomach aches.

You hold your nose and drink some. It actually doesn’t taste bad…just the smell.

So it is a liquid you drink. I’ve used baking soda and water for stomach trouble but it’s been a long time. Speaking of remedies, I’m working on my A2Z posts on essential oils and you will see therapeutic uses for them every day in April! 🙂

Yes sulphur water smells like rotten eggs but it is great for a stomach ache.
