“Spring Fever Fox” by Deb Lestenkof

Cushioned kitties
rhythmic breathe;
whiskers stir,
testing air;
cat-mouse dreams.

Robins bicker
over worms
pulled by the
spring equinox
moon.

Red maple, yellow
willow, brown birch
buds swell
then crack –
unfurling flags.

Fox squirrels
racetrack trees;
fevered play;
bird feeders hold
no luster.

De Jackson (aka Whimsygizmo) is today’s dVerse host.  De says:
stir us up a poem of exactly 44 words, not counting the title, folding in some form of the word stir.

    I love it when a dverser manages to make a quadrille long! It’s not, of course. It’s the same length as all of them. But this feels long.

      Yeppers. We aren’t quite there yet, but it was 63 in GR yesterday, which was pretty nice. Too back I had to come back to cold wind.

    I love the confidence of all these observations. The racetrack trees, the unfurling flags. You’ve packed all these colors and sounds and motion into this flowering quadrille. Beautifully written.
