The cultivation of hemp began more than 10,000 years ago in the region that is modern day Taiwan. Perhaps the first agricultural crop, hemp served as the foundation of sustainable civilization. Ancient farmers found that hemp was an ideal crop for conditioning their soil. The leaves would fall to the ground and create fertilizer that replenished nitrogen, nutrients, and oxygen in the soil, allowing farmers to rotate other crops such as corn and legumes into their plots with ease. The land also benefitted from the hemp plant’s ability to absorb excess water from runoff. The plant grows to between 10-20 feet tall and provides shade protection to other crops and livestock. The hemp plant grows a vast root system that provides a mesh-like layer of support to other plants’ root systems during moderate flooding and wind. — from Charlotte’s Web

RECIPE
Hemp & Argan Oil Hair Treatment Recipe
Author: Militza Maury | littlegreendot.com
Ingredients:
- Hemp Seed Oil
- Argan Oil
- Rosemary Essential Oil
- dark glass bottle
Instructions:
Use a small, dark bottle to better help preserve the oils.
Fill it with your blend: two parts hemp seed oil, one part argan oil
Add in a few drops of rosemary essential oil, 5-10 drops for every 1/4 cup of oil blend.
How to use:
–On clean hair (not covered in product), begin at the scalp. Give yourself a good massage with the oil – take your time here! We tend to focus on the hair, but healthy hair begins at the scalp!
–Work the oil down onto the strands
–Tie your hair up in a bun, or braid. Allow to sit for 20 minutes or overnight
–Wash as normal
–You can use a tiny small amount onto dry hair to help tame frizz
–You can also use this blend for your skin! It’s multi-use and rosemary is often used in anti-aging care products for its antioxidants – so you’ll get lot’s of great use with this! Dab it around your eyes, use it on cuticles or even as an all-over nighttime moisturizer.

I use argon oil but no idea about hemp. Is it easily available. I have tremendous hair issues.

They ascribe many valuable qualities to hemp / cannabis. Is it the same thing?

Yes, they are the same but I think there are some varieties that are better for some things and some are better for others. Did you you know you can make biodegradable heavy duty cardboard from hemp? It really is an amazing plant.

I am down with hemp, but I always discard the seeds.

I know you are. Well from now on put the seeds in a jar and when you have enough make hempseed whatever.

Hemp seed oil is lovely. Using dark colored glass bottles is a good idea as it can degrade with light exposure. You might wish to consider refrigerating it as well.

Thanks for the tips, Deborah. I don’t have any at this time but do have other carrier oils.

One thing does confuse me: It’s a good conditioner for dry hair but also good for oily hair?

check out this article, which explains why: https://happycbdoil.com/hemp-oil-for-hair/
It’s logical that it would help dry hair, but with the harsh chemicals in store-bought shampoo drying out the scalp, the scalp’s response is to produce more oil, which turns your hair oily.

That would probably good for my hair. :)

Maybe we are the wild beasts that need to remain caged? I have to hand it to Mother Nature, she knows what she’s doing, doesn’t she.

Yes, she really does, I do agree, we need to be caged, that we might reflect.

Never known that hemp was such a gifted plant.
And it sounds like my hair (that always gives me such a hard time) would gretly benefit from that treatment. I’ll take a note!
