Up on the Roof
It was that kind of day — cotton-puff clouds dotting robin’s-egg-blue skies, sun enough to warm — that made Sill glad to be alive. She flipped the shop’s sign to “Closed” and climbed eight floors to the roof. Ergochair molding to her curves, Laura Nyro crooning on her radio; within minutes she dozed.
Her cell “plinked,” interrupting a swell dream involving her and Townes VanZandt.
“Your order has arrived,” it said.
She looked up then watched the drone lower and land soundlessly. Antica Pesa hands-down made the best Shrimp Alfredo pasta on the planet – and Tiramisu to die for!

Robin’s egg and cotton puff imagery can’t be beaten. Considering that she listens to Laura Nyro and Townes Van Zandt, can we assume she has a few (at least metaphorical)grey hairs?

That sounds like an amazing evening. I love Alfredo, especially shrimp. I’m on the opposite side of the country from Antica Pesa. The best I’ve had was in the town where I grew up. A little restaurant in a
little town called D’Aurelio’s. My mom and I went on my last visit, and we had to wait an hour just to get in.

Yes, it was, in my mind. I googled, “best take out Italian food in new york city” and Antic Pesa popped up :) You’re on the west coast? I do love shrimp Alfredo though, and learned how to make tiramisu because my older son likes it. We don’t have any really good Italian restaurants in my berg.

A favorite song for many reasons.
We lived for a year in a building with a roof deck, and my younger daughter and I used to take pizza up and watch the sun set. Luckily, the pizza place was just across the street… (k)
