#Haikai Challenge #146: Buck Moon

Moon’s churned cream glows bright
while fireflies and rabbits play;
thunder’s promise grows.
Grazing bucks nibble clover’s
sweet dew as velvet blossoms.

Frank J. Tassone is the host of Haikai Challenge.  Frank says:

The July full moon, the Buck Moon:

The next full Moon will occur on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at 12:44AM ET, and is known as the Full Buck Moon. It is also known as the Thunder Moon, Hay Moon, or the Wort Moon. Even though this Moon turns 100% full on July 5th (in the Eastern Time Zone), we can all celebrate it on the 4th along with fireworks! Watch it rise in the east after sunset on the 4th.

This week, write the haikai of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to the Buck moon.

    Full moon and fireworks. That would have been an interesting photo. Sorry I missed it. No city fireworks this year.

    You reminded me of the full rack buck I saw in my neighbors yard a few years ago…
    Sweet.

      That would be awesome to see, Jules. It’s only does (and fawns) that graze in the back field here (unless some are bucks that haven’t grown their season’s antlers!)

        The deer often traverse the utility easement behind the house and one gent across the creek puts out a salt lick to attract them.

          I surely hope he doesn’t shoot them! Salt licks and other baiting is strictly illegal in MI.

            I hope so too… Probably illegal in most states.

            Once I saw a family across the creek… the Buck and doe, a teen I think and two smaller fawns. 🙂

      WP does the same thing to me. I think if you saw it this in your feed, you still are following me. It seems that way for the blogs I follow, as their posts do show up in my feed.

      1. I will go days without seeing certain blogs that I typically go to then all of a sudden they show up.
