First Autumn Storm
Dense saunal mist begs
dark clouds’ rumbled promises –
buckets poured gain trust.
Grass greens as we hear its thrum,
Inhaling cool autumn breeze.
Frank J. Tassone is the host of Haikai Challenge. Frank says:
Write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to either the first (autumn) storm (hatsu arashi), Darkness (Yami), or both!
Could see the visuals through your poem, Li. Beautiful. 🙂

I can feel that transition, the clearing of the air. It fits the weather we had today – mid-90s and clammy, until a storm moved in just before dinner, high winds and all, and left us with evening temps in the low 70s.

Thank you, Ken. It was yesterday’s weather here. It’s quite pleasant today.

I’m waiting for one of those cleansing storms. So far they just make it hotter and more humid. (K)

It usually does here also. It poured and poured yesterday. I took 2 buckets and kept filling them for the houseplants. Two full buckets are sitting just inside the door for later watering. It hasn’t rained like that in a long long time.

We’ve had lots of torrential rains…more promised today and tomorrow. So everything is green, but wilting in the heat and humidity. The plant life around here is not made for the tropics.
