While I was flitting by one day upon a gentle breeze,
I eavesdropped when a butterfly told secrets to the bees:
A magic nectar rests in deepest bells of lilies blue,
and if you sip just one small bit your fondest dreams come true.

This week, I’d like you to take any meaning, form or compound of the word eavesdropping, and write a poem of exactly 44 words (not counting your title), including the prompt word.

This is gentle, magical, and wonderful Lisa — beautifully written… :)

This is just delightful: ‘I eavesdropped when a butterfly told secrets to the bees’ – it makes me think of the kind of eavesdropping Ariel in The Tempest might do: so delicate and magical, made me smile :-)

I love the imagination in your poem Lisa. The magic elixar way down deep in the flower! It really is… for with bees it becomes honey and with butterflies it becomes more cocoons! Love it.

I love the rhythm and pace of your quadrille, Lisa, perfect for flitting, and I love the thought of eavesdropping on a butterfly telling secrets to the bees. There’s a fairy tale feel to this one. 😊 Like Ingrid, it made me think of Ariel in The Tempest and even Puck in A Midsummer Night;’s Dream.

I would love to eavesdrop on butterflies… but maybe I would be disappointed on the mundane things they are talking about… I bet it’s just sweet talk …
