Doodads — Shelby and Silver Lake with a bonus video at the end

As I’m going stir-crazy like so many others, today I decided to take a drive north, to a couple of my favorite places to visit.  It isn’t only the destinations but the ride down country roads that don’t see much traffic in the off season.  My first stop was the maze-faux-labyrinth at Cherry Point Farm & Market near Silver Lake.  Next was a few miles down the road, to Silver Lake, in Golden Township (not making this up!)  The lake is on the other side of a giant set of dunes along Lake MI.  One business offers dune buggy rides, where the buggies look like 3/4 buses with their roofs cut off and added roll bars.  They were put away today for the season.  The sign outside said, “Thank you for an interesting year.”  Individuals can get permits to drive their own dune buggies on the dunes, which would be fun and scary both.

At the m-f-l, many of the flowers had been deadheaded, but some were still blooming.  I didn’t get out of the car to take the lighthouse picture as it was approaching dusk and I didn’t feel like walking out to it.

And now for the bonus video. This morning I put my solar dancing skeletons on the floor and took a video of Mlady’s examination of them.

Getting out and away is important if you can do it. And a lovely destination. (K)

🙂 on Mlady’s video. Sitting inside and looking out at nature is one thing. Getting out in it and feeling the sun on your face and the wind (very windy there, I was surprised the pics came out clear!) on your skin is another. Yes, it really lifted my mood.

Love the pictures Lisa…I know it felt good getting out for you. The picture I like the best was the black and white light house…that was awesome…

Thank you, Max. Glad you enjoyed them. The area where the pictures were taken is truly magical, especially in the off-season when it isn’t clogged with tourists.

That lighthouse looks like it came from a horror movie…the black and white brings that out.

You just reminded me of that Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe movie! That was quite a nightmare of a movie.

that’s a good cat! Looks like a really nice park (?) there. How’s the fall colors in Michigan? My dad said they were already really bright last week in his area northeast of Toronto, which is early by about two weeks

I’ll tell Mlady you said she was good 🙂 The pics are taken at a farmer’s market with an herbal style maze design that they say is a labyrinth (not). Colors are changing here but not as much in nearby areas.
