    Congratulations, Li! I’ve just bought a copy, and look forward to reading it. I’ve also set up a booklinker.net ‘genius link’ for the book, which automagically redirects to the appropriate national site: http://mybook.to/AnthropoceneHymnal :)

    I’m repeating myself here (assuming that my comment on Ingrid’s site makes it out of moderation), but; I’ve sent Ingrid a submission of my own work for Volume Two (in the hope that there will be one). It’s a haiku entitled ‘Sacrilege‘:

    Gaia, swirling heaven.
    Mankind blossoms, then explodes;
    the end: just deserts?

      Thank you, pendantry! That’s wonderful that you are supporting the work of saving the planet with your skillset. It sounds like your ‘genius link’ is getting it to a wider audience and that is much appreciated. I’m sure Ingrid will be happy for the support also. With all of the good poets out there, a Volume Two is a good seed to plant. I really like your poem as an accurate assessment of current status of our dear mother and the invasive species trying to take her down.

        Thanks, Li. High praise, coming from you :) (Did you like the double entendre at the end? I’m very proud of that.)

          You’re welcome and yes I liked the end, whatever it is (homonym? pun?)

            I think it can be classed as both. “Just deserts” can be read as either “only vast expanses of desolate wasteland” or as the idiom meaning “the punishment that one deserves”. (And yes, the idiom is spelt correctly; it’s all too often spelled with a double ‘s’ because of the way it’s pronounced, but that’s wrong.)

            Personally, I think that the concluding interrogative is the icing on the cake ;) but then I’m bound to think that, as I’m really proud of this piece (as you can tell). Though it’s short, I think it’s one of my best.

        I ordered the book–I don’t have a Kindle, or I do have one somewhere that my daughter gave me, but I never liked to read on it so I never use it.

          Did you know you can get “kindle for PC” free from amazon and any kindle book you buy will send it directly to your computer?
