Yesterday I visited my favorite farmer and bought this and that. The pumpkin harvest is in. They were selling empty crates for $5 but I had no way to get them home. The crates would be perfect for composting.
Two nights ago I went outside just as darkness was falling. The moon has been so bright this week. I also snapped a few pictures of the trees. I like the way the phone camera takes night shots.
I can see a lot more stars in the picture than I could with my eye.
looking southwest. In this one there was a star between the branches of the right side of the tree but the camera didn’t pick it up.
I’m amazed at how many stars showed up in this one. This is the pruned locust tree behind the house.
I’m always googling what’s visible in New York near the moon. Right now it’s Saturn and Jupiter that I can see. If you use your zip code, sometimes you can find information that way too.
nice photos! The pumpkins remind me of Octobers back in Ontario. Has been unseasonably cool for two or three days here , so the sky is clear and the moon and stars were quite bright last night I noticed.
I love this time of year…Fall is my favorite season…and nothing says fall like pumpkins.

These crates really would make great compost bins. Isn’t there a way to get them delivered to you?

Too far away. I’m working on getting a trailer hitch on my car, which means I can buy a small trailer, so when these deals come up I can nab them 🙂

I was thinking about those crates as compost bins too. I might have to go visit my local pumpkin farmer and see if he has any spares.

Wonderful light in these. I like how the horizon glows. My camera usually doesn’t pick up the stars (planets, really) either. (K)

The moon was so bright, like a spotlight, again last night. I should have gone out there. Maybe tonight, if it’s bright again.

through the window, calling

I don’t go out, but it wakes me sometimes shining on my bed.

So those are planets I can see near the moon? I wish I knew more about the night sky.

Pumpkin crates. Neat idea. Do you carve yours?

I don’t carve the pumpkins, I buy small decorative ones and sit them together. Nothing fancy just a tradition. Do you buy pumpkins and carve them?

Oh, yeah. Have for years. I buy the small ones, too. I love this time of year. I had some fun last year:

Cute! We used to carve them when the kids were little. Now that I have a granddaughter maybe the tradition will be revived.
