For a few days now if I’m reading comments in the notification column I can see the feed jumping. When I’m reading posts I clicked on from the feed and try to comment on it, the post keeps jumping away and/or to another post’s comment box. I remember before it happened an “allow WP pop-ups” popped up and I clicked allow without thinking. Now it has become like a very annoying virus that I can’t get rid of. Max (at badfinger20) is having the same problem. What I want to know is how many others are being affected by this glitch? Please leave a comment here and also report it to WP help if you are.
Yes, this has been happening both on my phone and laptop. It’s super irritating and my immediate suspicion is that it’s deliberate to keep us on the site longer. IT LITERALLY JUST HAPPENED AS I TYPED THIS. Twice!!! It’s actually more annoying on my laptop because there the comment “jumps” into another blogger’s form. Here on my phone it just asks me if I want to leave the page. WP is so ridiculous lately!

😦 Paula so sorry to hear that.

Another thing that has been happening lately is I have to hit the back arrow many times after commenting to return to where I was reading in the feed. Half the time it simply refreshes to the top. ARGH!!!

They need to do a “restore” or whatever the rep called it asap. Being taken to the top of the feed is a major hassle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gee Ms’ you have got the patience of a saint there with that wp team – I’d probably have thrown the phone… and I am glad you got to the bottom of something. I have had a bit of that but, tbh put it down to my laptop being 5 and my inbuilt mouse doing erratic things as well. 🙂

I was in a chatbox for the conversation or maybe I would have thrown the phone. Lol. What irritates me is when they act like they are just now hearing about it. Pleading ignorance is a chicken response, no offense to chickens. Maybe your glitches are your old equipment but it sounds like it could just as well be the WP glitch.

It’s annoying. The app is fine for me and so is reading on people’s sites, but the reader on pc is jumping for me.

How about your comments, Graham? Any trouble with being bounced away from what you are typing?

Absolutely, it’s super annoying. Although just trying now, it might be fixed?

I thought so, but the feed just jumped. No probs with comments so far but it’s only been a few minutes…

Caramel it is very pesky. Sorry you are having to deal with it also 😦

I think it is one of their glitches that will be resolved. It is just a bit of a nuisance. I persisted with the comments I wanted to leave.

The WP peeps are not always on the ball. I hate that you can open your notifications bar and as you are going down it, it jumps and disappears. Then I have to go through emails or the Reader or just go to my blog and see what comments I missed. If a response on yours happened and it jumps, too bad, so sad. I don’t always catch them!

So you are struggling with it also 😦 I knew Max and I couldn’t be the only two!

Merril also did a stellar job. Man… I know I surround myself with fabulous writers, hoping to learn and improve but Lordy, it ain’t easy!

Dale this comment jumped posts lol. I know what you mean. I will be back at the poetry trail in a bit to read Merril’s. Thanks for the kind words, dear. You do just fine.

Well a ticket was supposedly opened with me last night. She had no clue that it was happening. I recorded what happened and uploaded it and yea…I got the YIKES after that. Yikes must be a WP support buzzword. It’s very hard to believe…no one had reported this…since it’s been going on last Friday. I haven’t heard anything back yet.

Well you see how many have commented that are struggling with it. And that’s just in our neck of the WP woods. There are millions of blogs. I find it hard to believe their tech support people were unaware of the issue, especially, like you said, since it started on Friday. Don’t they have a way to do a “system restore” for the code somebody injected in there to mess it up?

I just read an article about WordPress on Friday saying there were holes in security and they had to be shut. An update could have happened. Many programs have a rollback feature without messing with peoples data…but who knows with them.

Oh I hope they do. I put a lot of time into my index pages over the weekend. If I lose those….

No they should have everything backed up

What did you name it Lisa? I can look it up then. Did you publish it?

I didn’t publish any of them. Just keep adding to them and updating them.

Oh ok…until you publish them… I want be able to see them…which is fine right now.
With no menu…no one would see them anyway unless they knew what to type in

OK. I’m making decent time. I’m into 2019 now lol.

That is awesome! Well since I got the software last night…when it comes to menus…I may can record me doing mine and you can watch it.

Oh that would be awesome, Max. I just want to make sure I’m doing it right. I have learned how to edit the titles so they are only the names, etc, so easier to alphabetize.

I’ve tangled on numerous occasions with WP help. At one time, their phone app was doing weird things. I sent them screen captures and everything. Every time I got an email from them (several), I was always talking to a different person. I was lucky I kept the email address. I forwarded it to Max and he jumped on it. It’s nuts that WP didn’t even know that the Reader was acting weird…comment sections, when typing, were making pop-ups of “do you want to leave this page” show up. Sometimes, it would throw me to another blog. It was weird.
I read, somewhere, that WP plug-ins were causing problems.
Too many code monkeys, playing around.

Vic, you know the terminology better than I do. I think, since WP bloggers for the most part hang out in a fairly small section of the site — only so many hours in a day! — that we forget how vast it is. I really wonder how many developers and happiness engineers they have….

Very interesting, Vic. Amazing they have so few employees for as many people who have blogs.

I dont use the reader to read posts, so I’m not experiencing this problem, but the happiness engineers are really awful! I mean, we pay for our accounts, well you do, and I do. The last you’d think they could do is fix problems quickly and not spout off a lot of bs about our developers are trying, yada yada yada. xoxo

While my feed wasn’t jumping, I also had a hard time when trying to enter comments. I would repeatedly get kicked out. And, yes, sometimes, I would find myself in a different post! This only happened on the desktop version. I didn’t notice any problems when using my phone.
I think the issue started on Friday and went on through yesterday. Today, I haven’t had any problem yet – knock on wood! It certainly is quite annoying when you have to write comments in your word processor and then copy and paste them into a WordPress comment field!

Christian, thank you for the feedback. I don’t want to say I’m glad its happening to others, but it is good to know it is WP and not a virus I would have to deal with.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Exactly, a virus was my first thought, followed by my laptop acting up. It’s not in the best of shape. Are you still experiencing issues?

I’ve had that problem too. I can’t deal with those happiness engineers though. You are to be commended. (K)

I blog exclusively from my iPhone using the WP iOS app (as opposed to a browser like Safari or Chrome) and haven’t experienced any of the issues you’ve described. Not yet, anyway. There are other issue with the WP iOS app, but not those.

Yep! I had that happening last week, probably starting around Thursday… it would let me type maybe four words then jump out of the comments to another post (from another writer even). Very frustrating, I figured it was either a brief, rare glitch or my computer or browser being quirky, but then found Max was having same issues. Was still doing so yesterday, though last couple of days I’ve been doing what he’d suggested, typing the comments elsewhere and copying and pasting. Hope they fix it soon! Thanks to both you and Max for getting on to WP about it.

Good to know but sorry you were affected by it, Dave. I saw the feed jump within the first 5 minutes of typing, but it hasn’t done it since and comments appear to be fixed. I’m glad we did also as it may have helped get them to see the urgency of it.
