dwarf lilac is in full bloom
the sage not only survived the winter but is now in bloom.
Cari gave me some delicata squash seeds a few weeks ago, and i planted them. very healthy looking seedlings
one of the 2 lupines survived and is beginning to bloom
the lupine looks good next to the lilacs
the grapefruit trees and i (and the avocado) are happy
outside at my mom’s place earlier this week. thankfully the AC made things comfy inside.
And now, for the grand finale, a video of a Great Blue Heron hunting that I took yesterday. I should have kept the conversation my mom and I were having during the filming, but I added a soundtrack to it instead.
Long legs step tall grass as
neck keeps time with the breeze,
while happy fish jump;
yellow spear lightning strikes prey —
beyond, wiggling silver slides.
Nice! Your garden is flourishing beautifully! And the heron is a very patient hunter! 🌞

Sadje, thank you very much. If I could get my grass cut I’d be a happy camper. The first guy I called never called me back. The second one wanted to charge me double because it’s so tall. By the time I get my mower back, it will be uncuttable. I was actually researching scythes today!

Scythe is a difficult option! Perhaps a neighborhood young man/ girl can do it?

Lovely garden. So dwarf lilacs have that lovely scent? My lilac tree up and withered on me. Looking for a replacement.
Dwarf lilac sounds great.
Happy gardening. Thanks for the post. Xoxo

Selma, yes they do! It takes them a few years to get establish but once they do, they are fine. I’ve seen people plant them in a small circle and it looks really neat when they bloom. Glad you liked the post. You’re welcome :)

I’d never seen sage bloom before and was pleasantly surprised. Also surprised at how well the lilacs did this year. A lot of rain in early spring really helped.

Beautiful bloom…I thought it was a flower mixed in or something.
