It’s been a whirlwind week. Monday I met with former work friends for lunch and did a lot of catching up. I also hosted at dVerse for the prompt about Uvalde victims. Finally, I called and had a lawn service nearby come out and mow the tall, tall grass, as the mower will be in the shop for at least a couple more weeks. It looks great.
On Tuesday I went to my dream class and was helped to sort out a real whopper of a dream I had. After that I headed out to see my mom. Nothing happy to report there — I could write a book from things that have transpired between March 1 and now.
On Wednesday, I had a wonderful lunch with another former co-worker. She has her finger on the pulse of what’s happening in our city so I always tap her for information. Wednesday night I played an online game with my two sons and my daughter in-law, which is a weekly occurrence these days.
Yesterday morning I went with two friends on a leisurely bike ride around Spring Lake. It took us 2 hours to go 12 miles that included lots of wonderful curves, inclines, and declines, while catching a pleasant breeze from the lake. We saw so many pretty flowers, shrubs, trees, and even a sleeping turtle on the path. Last night when I went to take a hot bath, there was no hot water. All of that 3+ loads of laundry with hot water during April took its toll on the water heater that is less than 4 years old.
Today was supposed to be a day of creating collages, but instead it was spent running errands and waiting for the plumber to call. He’s here now and thankfully it is just the element that burned out and it is covered by warranty. When the water heater was installed, the company brought their own chosen electrician to run the new line for it as it was moved to a different location and was way bigger than the first one. The plumber today said that the circuit breaker is only designed for 20 amps (?) but the water heater runs on 30. Looking at the paperwork from back then to see why it was installed that way it was discovered that any mention of the electrician wasn’t on the sheet. This means I have to hire an electrician to come in and look at the setup and let me know if that circuit breaker can be shifted (not sure terminology) or if I need to downsize the water heater. The plumber is just now wrapping things up and the total cost…… $0! How often does that happen?
I’ll be working (playing) on collages tonight and tomorrow during the day and again on Sunday.
It’s been a busy and fun week. Following are pics and videos from here and there.

That made me tired just reading it…makes me feel like I didn’t do anything lol .
You should NOT have to downsize your water heater…not that I’m an expert but I don’t think so.

I’m feeling it, Max, and it isn’t over yet. I’m serving drinks at a big food festival downtown tomorrow night. By Sunday it will be a day of rest well earned. I hope I don’t have to downsize the water heater. We’ll see what the electrician says…

Rest up well Sunday Lisa… but you know…you were productive and that makes it better….no less tired but better.
No you should not have to…I would they could install a larger breaker.

A busy day indeed. Home repairs seldom come with a $ 0 bill.

I lucked out on that one. Thanks, Sadje 🙂

Sounds like you’ve had a busy week. Keeping fingers crossed about sorting out your water boiler issues. Home repairs can be drag! Hope you can finally get some rest on Sunday. It’s been an intense week on my end as well, mostly work-related. Work is also impacting my weekend, but hopefully it won’t be as intense as the week.
I’ll need some strength for two back-to-back concert I have coming up. After Ringo Starr last Tuesday, which was great, I’ll have to take it easier on the concert front. I’ve been testing my family’s patience! 🙂

I found some documentation on the wrong wiring (it had been emailed to me as a pdf attachment and I saved it, thank goodness) so we will see what they say on Monday. Sorry to hear it’s been so busy for you with work and hoping it lightens up for you next week. Very awesome on seeing Ringo last week!!!! Who are you going to be seeing?? Maybe give your family a special treat on the nights you’re out and they will forget all about being impatient 😉

Hm, special treat, there might be an idea! 🙂
I’m scheduled to see Bonnie Raitt (Wednesday) in Philly and Sir Paul (Thursday) in Jersey. Both are outdoor gigs, so hoping the weather gods will be kind. I also hope I’ll still be alive thereafter – I feel I’m gettin’ old for this s..t! 🙂

I hope you have a grand time at both concerts, and no way are you too old for it!

That is a full week! Hope everything gets fixed without too much trouble.
Electricians…I remember in one apartment they switched the wires in the circuit breaker when they installed a new one. Luckily a friend who new about such things looked at it and set it right.
I love irises. (K)

Yes, and I’m taking it easy today with the collage work 🙂 I’ve missed being creative. I found the paperwork on the original job and can’t wait to hear what they have to say on Monday. The way that element looked that burned out was scary. I think there is a danger factor to having it wired that way so they need to set it right. Isn’t that scary about the situation of your switched wires??? Yipes!
The Japanese iris in the front were here when I bought the house and the others were from rhizomes a former co-worker gave me way back when. Still all going strong. I love iris too and saw a bunch of gorgeous ones on the bike ride on Thursday. Because I was riding with others I couldn’t stop to take pics. It’s one of the reasons I like to ride alone, at my own pace, but riding with others has its own advantages. Hoping you are enjoying your Sunday, Kerfe.

I’m trying to work on my postcards–I’m doing altered postcards this year. I have 4 or 5 done so far. Otherwise really trying to get things organized and cleared out. The more I get rid of, the more seems to show up. It was rainy today so a good day to stay in.

Happy to hear you are making effort to work on postcards. It was a beautiful day for a bike ride here but I worked on my collage for the 13 clan mothers gathering on Tues. Made good progress and can’t wait to see how the gathering goes 🙂 Oh yes, I do need to work on POPO cards also! I was considering taking some of my current collages and having a printing place turn them into postcards and then just focus on the poetry.

That’s an idea. Everything takes so much time–I’m still trying to figure out how/what to focus on. I’m definitely too scattered and my life is too cluttered.

I HEAR YOU! It feels like I’m busier now than when I was working, but I’m not complaining.

There are weeks like that! Yet, aside from the hot water tank woes, sounds like it was pretty grand. I’m typing and listening to your birds tweet in your lovely video. Love that you do these collages – by hand or computer?

Yes, it was a busy and grand week for the most part. Some other not so nice parts I didn’t mention, but still the scales weigh in at way good.
About the collages, I have never tried digital ones. Mine are all by hand.

I hear you. We don’t always want to share the not so good. Glad the scales weigh on the good side.
I love that you do them by hand. I was just wondering because some people do scrapbooks digitally (never the same, in my opinion as those done by hand).

Yes, Dale, on the first part. On the collages, over the years I’ve seen them morph, in size and in depth. They started out from a “soul collage” class I took way back when and were 5×8 inches and flat. They have started getting larger (I’m at 8.5 x 11 inches) and I’m giving some texture that lifts them off of the page either perceptually or literally. I’ve started using different textures of paper also. It’s such an enjoyable process for me; like going to church.

I love that, Lisa. I keep promising myself to do more artistic things. To stop and just let it flow.
After Mick died, I did a lot of colouring. It’s crazy how much it helped. Was like a meditation. I have to, at the least, take that up again. Plus I have a fortune in paints and crayons and whatnot that are waiting for me to stop being so chicken !

Cool, Dale. I have the coloring supplies also and some acrylic art supplies. Even if you penciled in once a month to do it, I bet you’d love it.
