Half of Mina’s friends cautioned her to decline the prize and the other half didn’t. She had entered and won WBLD’s limerick contest, where a home-cooked dinner was first prize. The Count, a national celebrity in Transylvania, hosted a knockoff version of “Kitchen Nightmares” where all recipes included fresh kill. He lived in his castle at the top of the hill and would be cooking Mina’s meal.
Curiosity trumped caution and soon Mina was rapping at the massive front door. It creaked open.
“Good evening!,” said The Count. “Dinner will be served in one, two, three, four, five minutes!”

That’s great, Lisa. BTW, we had Sesame Street in Germany as well, while I was growing up there. I loved that show!

Awesome, Christian. My kids both learned to read and so much more by watching it. What makes me happy now is that my son and his wife are having the grandbaby watch it :) Did your kid(s) watch it growing up?

I can imagine it. “I made you peas! There are one, two, three, four..” “No please, stop.” “..five, six,…”
Just then, noticing the large bowl of rice, next to a bowl of pomegranate seeds, Mina let’s out a blood curdling scream.
Her friends were right, a fate worse than death ;)

lol I got a giggle out of it. Last week my son was talking about letting the baby watch Sesame Street and that has stuck in my mind.

Dear Lisa,
I love your twist at the end. I used to watch Sesame Street with my kids and the Count was always a favorite. This was one–ONE wonderful story, hahahahahahaha.

I love them too. I think Bert and Ernie were the first gay couple in the world of children’s television. And those old crusty geezers were funny!

That was a twist I wasn’t expecting, you got me! My kids watch ed Sesame St every morning without fail. I used to love the Professor…but Mina is cool with the Count ;-) A very cute take on the prompt!
