Johnny and June met in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout.* Johnny was lonely; June, a colorful butterfly that landed on his property one summer day. During the day Johnny shared his resources with her and at night June shared her fire with him.
Sunflower was born on the Summer Solstice. Then came Rose and Daisy. At last came Sage, born on the night of the Wolf Moon.
Johnny never thought he would know love or family. June never thought she’d settle down. Summer nights, the moon shines on their silver hair as she plays old Joni Mitchell songs.

As I was reading this story, Lisa, I kept trying to sing it. Well told. Very musical.
And yes, Joni Mitchell’s voice would work perfectly.

I wouldn’t know from experience, but I think kids change a lot of people’s perceptions of themselves and the world.

Nobbin, as a parent I see it as a see-saw balancing, where parents and kids change each other’s perceptions, but at varying rates and times.
