Painting by Richard Burlet “Woman in Blue”
i.
She does her best to turn away from her machine life
Those who imagine her see patterns of blue in her pixels
ii.
indigo diva,
a shy bird who merges with
the rare blue birch
iii.
betrayer’s lips’ union a
goddess’ dismay.
chameleon raiment
swivels away to blue.
Three perspectives on this LOVELY image. I thought of the movie Tron and their outfits in it in the first one. The second feels like a tree spirit. The last one as a goddess finds her lover in another’s arms.
Carrie is the host of The Sunday Muse.
I love these!! So descriptively lush

Nice job, Lisa. When I saw the painting, for some reason, my first thought was German cubist Franz Marc, even though it’s a different style. Plus, I know nearly nothing about painters to begin with. 🙂
My parents had a copy of one of Marc’s paintings in our living room, called “The Tiger”. I guess what I’m saying is I could easily picture Burlet’s painting being converted into a Marc.
I also like your song choice. It also reminds me I should spend more time with Leon Russell!

Christian, I think Franz Marc did the cover for the Mary Oliver book I reviewed recently. I love his work and it is a real tragedy he died so young 😦 Glad you like Leon Russell song, there’s a definite pull and charm to it.

Love that you saw a tree as well – a blue birch and the bird within.

It’s a lot to like about this post. The painting is great…. I love “swivels away to blue”…that rolls off great.
Plus Leon…doesn’t get much better.

Thanks much, Max. I’m starting to turn to Leon more when I’m feeling blue. There is a realness to what and how he sings that pulls me in.
