This past Wednesday I went to lunch with a friend to the restaurant the culinary arts school runs here in town. I’d heard the food was good and at a reasonable price before but hadn’t checked it out. My friend and I were not disappointed! I took pics of everything we had.
The dining (lunch) room from our table. The sound muffler in the ceiling was perfect for keeping any echo down. We got there right when it opened, and it filled up fairly quickly.
Our tableWe each had strawberry Italian soda with cream on top. YUM!I had seafood chowder that was so delicious. I thought it was crouton in the center but when I bit into it what a surprise. I learned later it was a clam fritter — SO GOOD!
My friend had cream of mushroom soup that I forgot to take a pic of but she said it also was delicious.
Her salad of greens dried cherries, and topped with sliced pears.
My salad of beets, arugula, candied walnuts, and blue cheese. It was YUMMY!
She had sweet potato gnocci and said it was superb.
I had green curry and thought it was very tasty. Just the right amount of heat.
The waiter brought out a choice of desserts and I took a pic of the choices. Bottom left is a coffee brownie, top is caramel bread pudding, and to the right is creme brulee. YUM. I skipped dessert but was so tempted.
My friend chose the creme brulee. She let me have a *small* taste. OOH LA LA! Never had it before but next time for sure.
Since Courses is part of a culinary arts school the cost was half or less than half of what it would have been at some other fancy place. What a way to have a gourmet meal at a reasonable price.
A great way to support the future of those students as well. We have a similar spot that I haven’t visited in some time. After seeing that impressive repast I might revisit. Mind you Port is only an hour or so away!
The only gnocci I’ve had has been frozen and out of a bag. I’m drooling thinking of fresh made. That tiny taste I had of the creme brulee was out of this world!
We have an Italian place in our tiny city which is incredible that we have one…he makes everything from scratch…I order gnocci and meatballs…it was one of the best things I’ve ever had.
Oh yea…that brulee looked great!
Oh you are blessed to have it. Speaking of meatballs, they now have Impossible Italian Meatballs that are SO delicious. In the frozen food section they taste just like the real thing.
What a wonderful outing. Everything looks delicious (I adore beet salads!) We have a culinary school in Montreal that offers the same type of thing. I haven’t been yet. Actually, as I type this, I am almost certain we have another on the south shore – my side of the St. Lawrence River. I should check it out.
Oh my god. I wanted to eat every single thing in those photos. Every single thing. And especially the dessert, of course. I made brownies out of a box last weekend–but an “upscale” sort of “famous” brand–and thought they came out delicious. But your desserts make my brownies seem like mud with frosting on top
lol !!
Looks yummy and nicely presented, Lisa! 🙂

Hah! I would not be so bold! And that’s what it’s all about – the company, the ambiance, the food… and the price!
