Kerfe’s RWG 7 — Melted Wax

Mackenzie Davis as Mariette in Blade Runner 2049

my knotty, curly apparel,
purple cactus coat, fringes
its naughty dance; latches,
smothers, and thrills with
scalding strange draw as
regret boils in amber glass

insidious pretend whimsy
keys its caress, scratches
unreachable itch to smash
nests of enthusiastic grips;
hushed prisons, melted wax.

Note:  I did not write this poem with the character in mind, but afterwards, when thinking of a good image to go with it, I thought of her, not only for her looks but for who she is and her context in the film.  For anyone who hasn’t seen Blade Runner 2049, you’re missing a first class film.

words used:  apparel, knotty, curly, purple, cactus, coat, naughty, thrill, dance, latch(es), smother, scald(ing), strange, draw, regret, boil, glass, key, caress, whims(y), insidious, pretend, smash, wax, prison

  1. What a wild bunch of random words. I don’t think I would even have tried to make a poem out of them. A wonderful poem that goes perfectly with the image. (My husband said we say the movie. Lol. )

      Thanks, Sadje. If you plan on watching Blade Runner 2049, I do recommend you watch the original Blade Runner first as it is a sequel.
