shadow topography
disorients, deceptive
black map suspends
us with starlight along
dark paths. stumbles
fall in dream-
less sleep to
dawn. arise
now blank
slate upon
which to
draw dawn’s
sunlight topography,
earth’s dirty receptivity.
in rainbow geometry,
kernels germinate to
blossom-scented reign.

Whimsygizmo aka (De Jackson) is today’s dVerse’ host of Quadrille Monday. De says:
Pen us a poem of exactly 44 words, not counting the title, and containing some form of the word map.
“dawn’s
sunlight topography”
— well, that’s just gorgeous! Love it.

That’s a neat shape poem, Lisa, and I like the idea of shadow topography and black maps. One way to find the path through our dreams, I suppose. I like these lines I particular:
‘now blank
slate upon
which to
draw dawn’s
sunlight topography,
earth’s dirty receptivity.’

Lynn, dawn brings a blank slate for each. Fill in as desired 🙂 Thanks for reading and your comment.

I wonder if night does erase the day before. It’s an intriguing idea. (K)

I think it does especially on dreamless nights…

Just not to trust the old standbys anymore, the shadow topography disorients, and the black map is deceptive.
Best go on instinct and memory.
Nice poem.

I like how the shape looks like an hourglass – mapping the uncharted day…

Thank you, Truedessa. I tried to make it look like that but not as skillfully as I’ve seen others do their shape poems.

Yes, it was a gorgeous day to do it. They were very hardy and had good roots.
I heard from my MI friends that you had snow yesterday!!??
