Chalk outline-sketched
Yellow tape-festooned
Relationship crime scene
February’s dead Valentines
Grabbed, slabbed, toe-tagged
Evidence room desert
Forensics team stymied
Cold case mystery
No bodies claimed
Morgue now overflowing
Hearts in limbo
Convoy of hearses
Cruise Crematory Lane
Purge in flame
Ashes in the wind.
Mish is today’s host for dVerse’ Quadrille Monday. Mish says:
write a quadrille (exactly 44 words, minus title) using the word sketch.

Love’s crimes, cold cases all, after they’ve been purged “in flame.” Wow! The mystery lover in me reveled in the forensic lingo and clinical voice, Lisa.

ohhhh this one is hard to read. Forensic lingo indeed….and a sad motorcade of hearses….ashes to ashes, dust to dust….

“sad motorcade” great term, Lillian. Thank you for reading and your comment.

Appreciate the comment, Mish. Thank you and thank you for the prompt word.

Such a great take on the prompt word, who would have thought you could create poetry from this forensic maelstrom – well done Lisa 🙌

Melissa, please say how you see it as devious! I really want to know.

It was the first word that came to mind for me for overall mood.
“Chalk outline-sketched
Yellow tape-festooned
Relationship crime scene”
It seems likely that something devious happened!
These lines also brought to mind (for me) the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre:
“February’s dead Valentines
Grabbed, slabbed, toe-tagged
Evidence room desert”
PS–I love the music video. I love Cake.

An excellent quadrille, Lisa. Very sad to see the death and destruction going on across the world and every day here in Charlotte as well!

What’s going on in Charlotte??

In Charlotte we have a shooting almost every day. It is often between teens that know each other. Very sad to see going on.

That is a lot of shooting going on. I’m guessing some bystanders get hit by mistake from time to time.

Love where you took the challenge … right to forensics, the artist sketch. Also love the sketches in your art piece, all the positioning.

Helen, thank you so much. Third time was the charm (had tried 2 other times on other topics and couldn’t make it work with them.)

The language used is perfect for the prompt, and I think it talks loudly about domestic abuse

I took it as metaphor, but on either level it packs a punch, yellow tape – a final mortal boundary.

Hey, Gia, I watched 2 episodes of The Squid Games series. About what I expected. Sorry, not my thing, but because of you I did give it a try :)

Thanks for letting me know. 🤓🙏
I haven’t watched the remaining episodes yet but I sure will in the next week or so. I look forward to seeing all the different characters under pressure the kind of pressure I personally want not part of. And of course, I want to see the character who actually wins, especially if it ends up being someone unexpected.

I’d like to see those things also but it’s a guilty type of pleasure to watch it. I do know that the guy everyone hates (#432?) is likeable to me. I think there is a little envy going on there. That mother-son team cracks me up.

The infamous 432, quite the character. Not his biggest fan either. It would be amazing if the momma won the whole thing. 🤓
