If You Want Me to be Honest
April’s burst slumbers yet
as I travel my slow-moving world.
Each morning I make my way;
Primordial, I shimmer.
Datura, pale, mute blossom, listens in.
Silly thought, I thought we had forever.
To think
I’ve waited for you.
Take this clutter from my house, my psyche, and the world.
I’ll admit to you, but … deny to all others,
Slip of unraveled rope still flaps…

This is a 2nd one using first lines from poems in 2023, Jan-Nov, with a first line also for title.
Laura is today’s host for dVerse’ Meet the Bar. Laura says:
Poem Style:
• write a ‘Found’ poem from your own Jan-November 2023 poems

These pieces are fun to assemble aren’t they? They seem to work cohesively.

Take this clutter from my house, my psyche, and the world–that about sums it up. If I had time, I’d do another one too. (K)

I’m not real happy with the first one otherwise I wouldn’t have.

It’s almost as if poetry is alive. It certainly reflects life very well.

Thank you, Vidya. I just went to read your poem and left a comment but it didn’t seem to show up. I tried!

Lisa, your arrangement of phrases and the flow of words create a compelling narrative that unfolds beautifully. The imagery of April’s burst slumber, the slow-moving world, and the admission and denial weave together seamlessly. :-)

Thanks, Judy. I hear you on the time. Being snowed in made it doable.

That had to take a while…after I saw what you linked to.

It did, Max. I was snowed in all weekend. JUST got in from snowblowing the driveway. That was a lot of snow!

We got around 6 inches….I’m working from home today and most likely until Wednesday or Thursday.

YAY. You and Fam might get to build snow people or make snow angels. Martha will love it, I’m sure.

I love it!
