Love as hard as you can. Write the stuff that matters to you, but also, maybe stuff that doesn’t matter too much – just have fun. Life is going to throw all sorts of things at you – remember that the small, beautiful moments can carry as much weight as the big terrible ones. And you can’t avoid bad things, but you can make a point of treasuring the good things. — Sarah Connor
Sarah Poem
She will leave.
In her place, a vacuum;
emptiness like space.
Her star’s implosion
will leave a black hole,
a sucking wound.
Yet, she will stay,
bright embers,
sacred remnants
of her living days.

Kim is today’s host of dVerse’ Poetics. Kim says: write a tribute poem for long-time dVerse host, Sarah Connor.

This is written so beautifully: Yet, she will stay,
bright embers,
sacred remnants
of her living days.

I love that your introduced your poem by quoting Sarah’s words, Lisa, and your poem is gorgeous, especially:
‘Her star’s implosion
will leave a black hole’
and’…she will stay,
bright embers,
sacred remnants
of her living days’.
Now I’m welling up again.

My understanding is that the poems will be given to Sarah’s family. I had that in mind as I wrote it.

I’ve been reading many of the poems written in response of Kim’s moving prompt. They are all beautiful. This one bought tears to my eyes. Those bright embers will glow brightly for a long time.
