Given, Hoots
How many:
adventures
bottles of booze
cloudy days
dreams
excuses
flushes
given, hoots
hair ties
incontinence pads
jukeboxes
killings, television
lies
music, hours of
novels
orgasms
plants
questions
ravioli
sunny days
tune-outs
unavailable men
verses
wonders
(e)xhumations
yellow flowers
ziggurats
in one person’s lifetime?
De Jackson (aka Whimsy Gizmo) is today’s host for dVerse’ Quadrille Monday. De wants us to write a 44-word poem using hoot.

Love love LOVE this alphabet list poem. SO clever. Going back for a second read. So good.

De, thanks. I sat down a day ago and tried to get a head start and the idea of “giving a hoot” led to me starting a list of things that are so ordinary in a life that they could never be numbered, but things that matter so much. Then I saw that most of them began with different letters and thus the abc… happened.

Also: MAN, don’t we love us some Hootie? ;)

YES! I knew you would have a Hootie selection and made sure mine was different.

I love the shape of your alphabet list quadrille, Lisa, and that you included not only flushes and incontinence pads but also orgasms!

Kim, thanks. I tried to keep it as real as possible. I’d be up a creek without any of them.

How many, indeed… too much of some, not enough of others, but none to be taken for granted! Fun way of tackling the prompt, Li!

I don’t know a lot of different poetry forms but I know abecedarians and I liked yours a lot. I haven’t thought about Hootie & THB in a long time and it was fun hearing that song live. I didn’t even know they’d gotten back together!

Michael thanks much! I didn’t either about Hootie but you know how bands are…

Dale it didn’t start out that way but it had its say. Thanks much and glad you are a Hootie Fan.

Love when that happened. Their show was one of the last ones I saw at the Montreal Forum before they repurposed it (much to our chagrin)

Dale, I would like to hear your thoughts on your new (or soon will be) PM? I think Trudeau has been doing an admirable job in responding to the mayhem (aka sh*t) the US has been throwing at Canada. Will the new person be effective in that regard, do you think?
LikeLiked by 1 person
As much as Trudeau was/is disliked by so many, I think he more than stepped up to the plate. It was astounding to hear him talk with not a single “errr” “umm”. And I truly appreciate his firmness and refusal to be treated as a “Governor” as per the 🟠🤡💩
I think Mark Carney will be great. Of course PeePee (Poilievre that I cannot stand) is doing his best to discredit him. You know, once upon a time, Canadian politics did not sling and arrow to their opponants as they do now – an unfortunate copying of the US ways.
The next few weeks will tell.

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Oh how I long for emojis at times. Your are so accurately depicting a character that could never have been imagined to be real. At times it feels like we’re in a prolonged state of a delusion of the worst kind :(

I appreciate your asking about my thoughts. Oh man… there are NOT enough emojis out there. A friend puts the orange and the poop but I feel the clown is needed, too.
It’s dumbfounding and jaw-dropping the complete lack of manners and respect and he doesn’t care one iota for the people who voted for him.

I tried to think about a few of those numbers in reply Lisa and could only say with confidence: 0 exhumations so far. Your next challenge is to quantify each and every item on your list.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Sean, lol on exhumations. Mine are metaphorical/memoirical (is that a word?) Digging up the past, or, in Peter Gabriel’s words, “digging in the dirt.” The challenge you suggest is impossible as each is inherently unquantifiable. Qualify, however, hmmm, maybe.

Maybe… I suppose ‘average’ is why I don’t bother with a ‘Bucket List’ – counting is too time consuming.
