HAPPY HALLOWEEN ALL!
I’ve been gathering pictures all October for this post. Some were taken at the school, others at the library, and many at Old Faithful, FMG. Besides the tombstones with epitaphs above, from a dVerse prompt, are already mentioned photos, a short video, and a Spotify playlist that was put together last year. I hope you enjoy the Halloween celebration as much as I do. There will be one other Halloween post that you won’t want to miss, so be looking for it a little later today.

Happy Halloween, Lisa! 🧛🏻♂️

Lisa, the very best to you and yours this Halloween! This was a great post for me to start off Halloween 2025 with. There isn’t a pumpkin I don’t love, but I really love that adorable little punkin’!

Thanks, Imelda. There were so many here and there this month, it was neat to see them and take pics of a few.

Very cool! Great tombstone quotes, and the gourds and flowers are beautiful to see in bunches! Love the music, too, especially the RHPS, Exorcist, and Possum Kingdom which is my favorite. :)

Barbara, happy you enjoyed the post. The Possum Kingdom song always puts me in the zone. Was it you who told me it was about a cult?

Probably, since I’ve posted that song a few times. I always thought it was a true story, but maybe not. I do know there is a lake not that far from here called Possum Kingdom. My dad and uncles used to go fishing there. :)

Ah, either my memory banks got activated or I’m having deja vu. I remember you saying that about your dad and uncles going fishing there. Spooky for them if it is true.

Happy Halloween, Lisa. We don’t celebrate it in my house. My wife doesn’t like its pagan origins. While that doesn’t bother me, we didn’t have Halloween back in Germany when I grew up there, so I simply don’t miss it.
I don’t mind others celebrating it, though I find the efforts some folks put into decorating their front yards are a bit over the top. One guy in my neighborhood literally converts his frontyard into a cemetery with all kinds of props – of course, all illuminated in different spooky colors. I don’t want to know his electricity bill!
That said, in the region where I grew up back in Germany we had something similar. It was called St. Martin and based on a biblical story. There were bonfires and St. Martin parades. After the parades kids would go from house to house with lanterns they had often crafted in art class in kindergarten or grammar school and sing songs and get some candy. St. Martin also took place during the cold time of the year – I believe sometime in November. There was no costuming.

Thanks for explaining your beliefs and customs about Halloween. I knew England had something with carved turnips but hadn’t heard of St. Martin. I just put a couple of punkins in the yard, which the squirrels and maybe chipmunks (and even possums) feed on in winter. There is a person a couple miles down the road that does that “millions of decs” in the front yard. It’s tough where it is located to park, but one of these years I’m going to pull up there and ask if I can walk through and video it.
Hope you are enjoying your day, even if it doesn’t involve stepping beyond the veil into spookiness.

V, I think seeing my granddaughter in her Halloween costume got me inspired. She was an ankylosaurus, her “favorite dinosaur.” :) Her little buddy was a fire fighter.
