Stay Away from Green Street

In secret sessions held in Mel’s banquet room, Operation Siphon (OS) is born. Road Commission Team pours concrete for “authorized personnel only” parking places on either end of the two-block long hedgerow. Although Green is a two-way street, strange directional signs are placed just north and south of the parking places. Traffic ordinance enforcers park and wait. Confused drivers are pulled over as they bronc cash cow strip. Drivers are given the option to pay $100 immediately via hand-held financial transaction devices, or pay double after seven days.

In a year, City Accountant reports OS has sucked $100k. from drivers.

I really liked the clever story for this confusing sign! The first part almost felt like a communist meeting – (Road Commission Team pours concrete…) and then I like how it turned out to be a revenue generator… and stay away from Green street – green is usually go or pleasant – but in this case – stay away…

It’s a sign I’ve never seen before and have no clue what it means. When I think green here I think moneymaker (for the government.)

lol, Nancy! I knew I knew that line but had to look up the song. Indeed! It would make a creative title for the story also.

A great satirical take on local government corruption. You’ve captured the ‘small-town heist’ vibe perfectly🙌

I get sick of the creative ways that are concocted to siphon ever-shrinking incomes of the lower class. The government is like a vampire with traffic stops, late fees, arrest warrants if you don’t/can’t pay them, and of course they charge you for your stay in jail if you get picked up for the bench warrant.

Andof course it’s just getting worse under our current leadership. May they’ll die a horrible agonizing death, the sooner the better.

You joke but I’ve seen traps like that before using tree obscured signs and lazy cops. Great story.

I love the variety of stories this sign is inspiring. It’s a stupid sign and I’d love to see how many peeps actually know what it means.

FYI… Canadian road sign indicating a lane narrowing or a merge ahead where drivers must yield to oncoming traffic.  The solid black arrow indicates the lane that has the right-of-way. The red dotted arrow indicates the lane that must yield and merge.

Dale, agree on all. Thanks for explaining what it means. Is it common enough there that people just know what it means?

At first I thought some covert team was putting in false signs and parking restrictions as part of some secret mission or big robbery, Mission: Impossible style.
