The kids and I visited Mammoth Cave,
in Kentucky, when they were 10 & 12.
There weren’t any mammoths.
There were, however, in the rock beast’s belly,
cots set up, still there since Dr. Croghan
brought TB patients to cure in 1842.
Bjorn is today’s host of dVerse’ OpenLinkNight.

Amazing..I take it the mummified corpse WP chose to add at the bottom as a link to the theme wasn’t one of the TB patients who didn’t make it.

omigosh, Judy, just checked out what you are talking about. Why does WP do that!?

I don’t know why they do a number of things. For one thing, I hate the new Reader. I liked the one where you could just scroll down from blog entry to blog entry and saw the actual blog as you did. It was so simple. The new one with the Blogger’s name just shown where you need to sign in and out of each one is so complicated..the names too small to see…and half the time I have to sign in to the Reader again to see the next one. Why do they take a good thing and feel they have to change it for change’s sake? (Bitch, bitch. Why doesn’t the world let me run it? ;o)

Judy, totally agree with everything you mention being irritating. I also hate how they have done away with the classic formatting. Everytime they change it I have to learn a new way. I think there are two distinct groups of users at WP. One group are the bloggers like us, using it as a social community. Another are business clients who need/want all of the bells and whistles to sell things. Why they can’t divide the site into a blogger side and a business side is a mystery to me. Like you said, if we ran the world, things would be different ;)

Lisa, you can still use the classic formatting. I have continued to do so and they’ve promised me they will not discontinue it. If you wish, I can tell you how to get to it.

Yes, please tell me how to get to it. I’ve adjusted to the latest formatting changes, but I will keep the info in case the next one is a pain.

That’s very interesting, Lisa… I’m wondering, where did the mammoths go? 🤔 Even so, amazing piece.
I made a new magnetic poetry yesterday, called Summer Waterfalls. Hope you like it. ☺️
Have a wonderful Saturday!

I’ve went there many times! I can’t believe how huge it was as you went down and the water that is down there…basically an underground lake. It’s not too far from us.

Wow cool Max. I didn’t see the lake or don’t remember it. Don’t they have different tours? Also someone asked where did the mammoth go. Do you know?

No, I think it’s just a name becasue it’s so big…no relation to the mammoths but I could be wrong…but that is what I remember.

My grandparents took my older brother and I there when my younger brother was born. My grandfather was afraid of heights and had to be walked out backwards part way through–that’s all I remember. (K)

K, what a memory. It’s so interesting what each visitor takes away from the experience. Sorry your grandfather got spooked. I remember reading about special excursions you could take there where you literally had to crawl through certain areas. It made me anxious just reading about it.

That would make me anxious too–I am a bit claustrophobic.

Hi Lisa. Yes, I was sad to miss the live meeting. My son was down from VA and I was tied up helping him with his truck!

Amazing and imagine what a killer TB really was before there were any cures. My father had it as a kid and was lucky enough to survive.

Glad he made it through TB. Nice to chat with you at the LIVE meet yesterday. How was your sleep outside?
