If you read no other long essay today, PLEASE read this. I knew 4 students were shot by national guardsmen at the time but I chose not to know the details until today. This is highly emotional material, so please beware when you read.

Don’t tell me your dad was ok with it? Yah, I know what you mean about considering who is worse, tough call.

I remember them as images on a tv screen. It didn’t seem real. I was too wrapped up in survival to pay much attention at that age.

We had a cousin who was in the National Guard at the time; I remember how horrified he was about what the standing orders had been at Kent State; and I can still see the images of dead students from that day in the back of my mind.

No one was held accountable… that is just ridiculous. Like Hans said earlier today it was a turning point in the war.
I didn’t know that violence broke out at other universities until today.
Thanks for reblogging!
