Summer Rain
clouds
squeezed cotton
sheds new ancient wealth
on all without favorites
Om
walk —
summer rain
refreshes my skin
and fills the pond, drop by drop
full
fish
rise to rain
surface umbrella
pitter-patters gentle song
lulled
dust
drummed to mud
rises and travels
in rivulets to flower
beds
roots
are ready
gather liquid life
shares with each part of itself
thrive

We’ve gotten enough rain here but when it hits the high 80s I want it to rain to cool things off. Oh, I FINALLY met the former owner of the house today. He came over to chat for a bit and lives just down the road. He said all this rain is bringing the Mississauga rattlers up out of the wet along the creeks. Great! He didn’t think it was a bear back in the brush but remembers one making a circuit through here in the 1990s.

Great- snakes and bears.. I don’t kind a nice gentle rain but the rains we’ve been getting the past couple summers here- are violent thunderstorms- gully washers I can do without that!
