When I saw the picture and the song lyrics for this week’s Thursday Inspiration, it reminded me of a movie I saw a few months back, called, “Alpha.” It tells the tale of a young man’s survival in a harsh winter climate back in the times when humans were hunter-gatherers. The young man is out on a hunting expedition, where it may have been his first time being allowed to go out with them, and he’s expected to prove he is worthy of the honor. Something goes awry and he finds himself facing the elements alone – at least at first. It’s a powerful movie and one that teaches by example about surviving adversity.
Blizzards blind the brave
Each footstep closer to camp —
Wolves howl winter dirge.

This week’s theme is winter and the picture is [above.] Here is the song snippet from “I Am A Rock” recorded by Simon & Garfunkel in 1966:
A winter’s day
In a deep and dark
December
I am alone
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow
I am a rock
I am an island
