He arrived to pick her up in a white sport coat with a pink carnation. She was a devil in a blue dress. His brown eyes met her hazel eyes. Fireworks bloomed in the dusky rose sunset. He took her by the elbow and led her to his pink Cadillac, opened and closed her door for her, then walked around and stepped in with his blue suede shoes.
He gunned the engine and they thundered on down the road, headed towards the green green grass of home, which was Silver Springs, Colorado. They would be there by morning. The Green Rose Picnic was an annual celebration ever since marijuana became legal. They had a trunk full of Panama Red to unload at the dispensary.
They stopped at a roadhouse just out of town and danced all night at The Yellow Submarine. They ate oysters on black crackers. They threw back shots of the green dragon which sewed their minds up with silver threads and golden needles. He got an orange crush on a lady marmalade and she became a little blue number that nobody wanted to call.
