dVerse — Old (New) Dream Deferred

Now nudging daisies
Home away from home
Blue dreams of water
When my sails unfurled
Or putting along
Aquamarine world
Wedged in sugar sand
Only wave laps heard

Sun gleams, moon silvers
Celestial smiles
I, their wee daughter
Toddled my tiller
Through duckweed blankets
That dipped and quivered
Now red right return
Old (new) dream deferred

I simply love that phrase “toddled my tiller” It seems it could be applied to any number of situations! It goes in my book along side “fluffing my tutu”.!

This is delightful imagery, obviously your memories of sailing are happy ones!

It’s something I never really tried, not a confident swimmer …

    1. Lisa or Li's avatar msjadeli says:

Not all of the memories were happy with sailing but those are the things I chose to remember in the poem. I couldn’t swim to save my life; float maybe until help arrived. I always wore a life vest and we only sailed in an inland lake, which is very different than Lake MI or the ocean.

A dry docked (backyard) boat waits for a different time … soft-lapping mediation here, as if the boat were afloat.
