Thursday Inspiration 69 — Free as…

Bird flying over ocean

Free as a weed
in a sidewalk crack.

Free as a puppy
on the run.

Free as dandelion puffs
in the breeze.

Free as a drop of water
in the lake.

Free as afternoon
lazy bees.

Free as a kitten
curled in the sun.

Free as a turtle
on floating log.

Free as the scent
of cinnamon.

Free as a ship that
clears the fog.

Paula Light is the host of Thursday Inspiration.  Paula says:
This week’s theme is free and the picture is below. Here is the song snippet from “Free Bird,” a 1973 song by Lynryd Skynyrd.

But, if I stayed here with you, girl
Things just couldn’t be the same
Cause I’m as free as a bird now
And this bird you can not change

Thanks for sharing this, Jim. I’m very familiar with this album and this video. “If it’s a mirror you want, look into my eyes. Or a whippin’ boy, someone to despise. Or a prisoner in the dark, with chains you just can’t see. Or a beast in a gilded cage is all some people ever want to be.” This album is etched into my soul.

I know what you mean. I’d love to be a puppy for a day, running and playing, chewing on things, licking people’s faces, rolling in the grass, chasing butterflies…

      1. I know, right! It would feel awesome and liberating! Not to mention the cuteness factor 😉

I’m very glad the poem freed you up :) Paula, who does the prompt, uses it. In 2019 I did one coloring (hard copy with pencils and gel pens) each day. It was very relaxing and before covid. My wrist started to feel pain so had to give it up.

      1. Am sorry about your wrist. But glad you can be creative with poems.

:) I bought 3 “pinks” plants on clearance this summer. Two are thriving and one is under one of the tomato plants and hopefully still alive. Pinks are as close to cinnamon in the garden as you can get. I pull blossoms and breathe in the smell.
