#FF — Payback

He’d raped my sister and several other women, but as town judge he was untouchable. I snuggled up to him at Joey’s, his favorite pickup spot, and soon we were parked by the pond. It was easy to rufi him. Once he passed out, I rolled him in. As his secretary, it was easy to use his credit card in the big city so it looked like he disappeared there.

Winter’s freeze made the best accomplice. By the time his body was discovered all evidence would be washed away.

Yet Spring thaw revealed no corpse in the pond.

You’ve constructed this story very well, and the conclusion is a killer. It’s a possible scenario, too; there have been very rare instances of prolonged survival in icy water. It could have been several minutes before he was pulled out and revived. Now we wonder where he is – and when the blackmail letters will start.

Obviously, my initial thought was that cannibals found the body and used him as a TV dinner. Everybody knows frozen lakes are freezers for cannibals, but I see from your comments that he survived. Hmm… Now, I’m wondering if he’s hiding from her or hiding to come after her. Who really gets the payback? Duh-duh-duh-duh!
